About
Minh Vo is one of his generation’s leading pianists in the Maryland and D.C. area. His musical journey began at the age of 7, learning classical piano at his elementary school and with the school’s teacher. After turning 13 years old, his father introduced him to the local jazz scene and was fortunate enough to be nurtured and mentored by locals Michael Price, Allyn Johnson, Eric Byrd, and Paul Carr.
Known for his deep rooted yet contemporary musical language and unique compositions, Vo evokes a sound akin to Herbie Hancock, Kenny Kirkland, Mulgrew Miller, and Oscar Peterson. He has been able to collaborate with George Cables, Emmet Cohen, Nasar Abadey, Keyon Harrold, Sharon Clark, Obasi Akoto, Herman Burney, John Clayton, and many more.
Vo’s musicianship has taken him to highly esteemed local DMV venues such as Keystone Korner Baltimore, Blues Alley, Mr. Henry’s, Capital One Hall, Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, and more in addition to hosting bi-weekly jazz jams at A Baked Joint. In recent years, Vo has also played around the country in cities such as Nashville, Tennessee and Seattle, Washington.
